 What is Kumaun?

 Kumaon is an administrative region in Uttarakhand state, India. This region is spread over the eastern half of the state. This is bounded on the west of Garhwal region, on the north by Tibet, on the east of Nepal and on the south by the state of Uttar Pradesh. Kumaonis is the language spoken by people living in Kumaon are also known as Kumaonis.

Historically, Kumaon is known as Manaskhand and then it's name changed as Kurmanchal, later it changed into Kumaon.
