What is Kumaun?
Kumaon
is an administrative region in Uttarakhand state, India. This region is spread
over the eastern half of the state. This is bounded on the west of Garhwal
region, on the north by Tibet, on the east of Nepal and on the south by the
state of Uttar Pradesh. Kumaonis is the language spoken by people living in
Kumaon are also known as Kumaonis.
Historically,
Kumaon is known as Manaskhand and then it's name changed as Kurmanchal, later
it changed into Kumaon. The Kumaon region has been ruled by several Hindu
dynasties over the course of history; Katyuris and the Chands. The Kumaon
region emerged in 1816. Now Kumaon is home to a famous Indian Army regiment, as
a region of Uttarakhand.

Kumaon region of Uttarakhand with its beauty of widely green. The view of

Bhimtal: Bhimtal is a town in Nainital

in Bhimrao lake. It is said that this temple was built when Bhima visited here

Ramgarh: Ramgarh is a small hill station
located in the middle of Mukteshwar in Nainital district. This place is full of

an elevation of roughly 1,518 meters.
Munsiyari: This is a small hill station based

Abbott Mount: This is a small hill station known

Kumaon hills. This park is spread widely in 520 sq km and most of the area of
park is reserved for tigers. There are more than 580 species who live here too.
This park was established in 1936 based on the name of hunter Jim Corbett who
wrote the book "The Man-eaters of Kumaon". There are more places to
visit like Dhikala, Garjia Temple and Kalagarh Dam. Best time to visit here is
from October to June and People can also interact with elephants and wildlife
sightings.
